LIIAR Analysis of the Brief

The front cover of my magazine must have a masthead which stands out to the audience. The main image will fill the page and must be an MCU which includes the head and shoulders of the subject involved. The subject in this image must relate to the main feature in the magazine as well as make eye contact with the audience. The colour scheme and house-style I choose for the front cover will be consistent throughout the magazine – there will be at least two main colours. I must also display other articles but in a less obvious way to the main subject so these can be thumbnail images. If the magazine has a price, it must be displayed clearly as well as have a barcode. If there is a free gift or the chance to win a competition, then this should also be displayed because this could appeal to the audience and make the magazine stand out from others. Along the bottom of the front cover, I will tease the contents of the magazine to give a small insight on what the magazine will feature.

I am producing the magazine for Wyke College.  It should show that Wyke College is a great place to be – it will show it is social, studious and successful with a high exam result record. My target audience will be the students at Wyke who range from ages 16 to 19.
The college and the students studying there will be presented in a positive way. Showing that they achieve high grades and Wyke in general is a friendly place to study. I want to show that Wyke values their students and I want to convey the message that Wyke is fun but with high standards when it comes to learning.

The Brief

I have been asked to produce the front page of a new school/college magazine using DTP and an image manipulation program, featuring a photograph of a student in medium close-up plus some appropriately laid-out text and a masthead. To demonstrate my grasp of DTP, I must produce a mock-up of the layout of the contents page.
